Beta Testing Delayed

Thursday, January 14th, 2010

Beta testing for Yahoo IDs is delayed. If you signed up for the beta test, I will contact you when a beta is ready. Thanks to all who volunteered.

DeliciousSafari Yahoo ID Beta Test

Sunday, December 13th, 2009

UPDATE: Beta testing has been delayed indefinitely.

If you’re interested in testing the next version of DeliciousSafari that supports Yahoo IDs, please let me know. The purpose of this release is to allow new Delicious.com users to access their bookmarks since the only way they can do so is by using a Yahoo ID.

I’m collecting a list of beta testers now and will most likely have a beta ready for testing by the end of this week.

Update #1: This beta is for the DeliciousSafari plug-in on the Mac, not the Bookmarks iPhone app. I will start work on an updated iPhone app after I finish the work on the plug-in.

Yahoo! IDs Don’t Work

Sunday, October 25th, 2009

Yahoo! IDs don’t work with the delicious.com API. That means DeliciousSafari, Bookmarks Pro, and any other application or website built using the delicious.com API will not work if you try to login with your Yahoo! ID. If you have an old school delicious.com account then you’re fine. This affects new users who have to sign up using a Yahoo! ID.

DeliciousSafari 1.9 – Search

Monday, October 5th, 2009

Search ScreenshotSearch has finally been added to DeliciousSafari in version 1.9. You can now search your bookmarks by tag or title. This release also includes minor bug fixes.

Changes

  • Added search
  • Changed Save Bookmark shortcut to Command+Y
  • Fixed installer problems

DeliciousSafari 1.8 – Snow Leopard Ready

Sunday, September 13th, 2009

Version 1.8 of DeliciousSafari is available. Feature wise, this release is identical to 1.7 except that it also works on Snow Leopard.

However, Tiger is no longer supported in 1.8. If you’re using Tiger or Safari 3, you can download 1.7 here.

Beta Testing DeliciousSafari 1.8

Tuesday, September 8th, 2009

Update: Thanks for the fast response everyone! I now have enough beta testers for this release.

If you’re interested in beta testing DeliciousSafari 1.8–the Snow Leopard compatibility release–please let me know.

Snow Leopard Compatibility

Saturday, August 29th, 2009

DeliciousSafari is not yet compatible with Snow Leopard. I’m working on a release to address this issue. In the meantime, you can use the workaround described in the documentation pages. This workaround may also fix other Safari plug-ins that stopped working in Snow Leopard.

Problems Saving Bookmarks

Thursday, March 19th, 2009

Over the last month, I’ve received several complaints about bookmarks not being saved to Delicious. Before that time, I received no similar complaints. This leads me to believe there has been a change on the Delicious side that I am unaware of.

I’ve contacted Delicious about the problem and I’m investigating. If there is a bug in DeliciousSafari, I will release a new version to fix the problem. There is more information about this problem in the documentation pages.

Also, many people have asked if DeliciousSafari works with Safari 4 beta. As far as I know, it does. If it doesn’t work for you, please let me know.

DeliciousSafari 1.7

Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008

Version 1.7 of DeliciousSafari is available. Many bug fixes, performance enhancements, and new features are included in this release. Special thanks to the 60 beta testers who tracked down and reported bugs to make this a solid release.

Changes

  • URL icons (favicon) are displayed next to bookmarks
  • Added a toolbar button for saving bookmarks
  • Added spell checking to the Name and Notes fields
  • Fixed tag suggestions on Tiger that stopped working with Delicious.com 2.0
  • Increased maximum length of Notes field to 1000 to take advantage of new maximum allowed by Delicious.com 2.0
  • Bookmark saving is faster (now processed in the background so you don’t have to wait for the save to complete)
  • Safari startup is faster (tag menu is now generated on the fly, rather than when Safari starts)
  • Improved reliability of Import Bookmarks from Safari
  • Fixed several issues that prevented DeliciousSafari from loading on some computers
  • No longer a SIMBL plug-in
  • Added Invalid Credential notification when your Delicious password has changed and needs to be updated in DeliciousSafari
  • Checks for Delicious updates every 15 minutes in case you add Delicious bookmarks through something other than DeliciousSafari
  • Logout really works now (it used to leave your username and password in the keychain)
  • Menu item text is now truncated in the middle if the text is longer than 60 characters
  • DeliciousSafari now opens a Safari window if there isn’t one, rather than doing nothing

As SIMBL is no longer needed you can delete it from /Library/InputManagers/SIMBL, but only do so if you know you have no other SIMBL plug-ins, otherwise those plug-ins will stop working.

Beta Testing DeliciousSafari 1.7

Sunday, June 1st, 2008

If you’d like to help beta test the next release of DeliciousSafari (version 1.7) please contact me so I can add you to the list. A lot of the code has been reworked since 1.6 as the result of your feedback and I need testers to help ensure this release fixes many of the problems in 1.6 without introducing new ones. I want to begin beta testing 1.7 by June 8.

You’ll also get to preview some of the new features added in 1.7, such as favicon support, faster Safari startup, fast bookmark posting, and a toolbar button for posting to del.icio.us.

Several people have let me know that the DeliciousSafari menu doesn’t show up in Safari after installation. If you are experiencing this problem, please sign up for beta testing. This is an issue I’m trying to resolve in 1.7.

Again, if you’re interested in helping please contact me.
