Only last 1000 bookmarks available for search

A change to the way delicious.com works means that only the last 1000 bookmarks are available for search from DeliciousSafari. You can still save as many bookmarks as you like, but if you want to find something saved more than 1000 bookmarks ago, go to delicious.com to find it.

Thats a shame! It practically renders delicious useless, as any web-interface is too slow (at least for me) :( DeliciouSafari is so amazing since it allows creation of bookmarks and retrieving them through tags so lightning fast, unmatched by safari’s own bookmarking-functionality or the delicious web interface.

Hopefully they will change this API-policy… why the lock-in? If they would provide their own safari extension I would understand that, but they didn’t manage to implement one yet…

If you would develop a plugin which would have the “old” functionality as the DeliciouSafari without this stupid limit, just storing the bookmarks locally, I would happily buy it for 20 $ … :) I didn’t even really care that they were stored online… (although having the same bookmarks on multiple computers is a nice-to-have). DeliciousSafari made the storage part totally transparent. Maybe you just ditch the web 2.0-part completely and develop something tag-based with a local database, That would be so great!

I completely agree. I almost exclusively use DeliciousSafari to lookup my own bookmarks for the same reason (speed). No promises, but I’ll try to workaround the restriction. The API changes don’t prohibit me from accessing older bookmarks, they just changed the behavior of the API I am using from returning all bookmarks to limiting it to the last 1000. However, I can still request older bookmarks as separate requests. This will require code changes on my side to support. Stay tuned.

This is what Delibar.app does. Is there a way to make DeliciousSafari do the job by keeping increased database size by informing user in advance, that he needs to increase database limit and make an interface for that?
