DeliciousSafari 1.3

Version 1.3 of DeliciousSafari is now available. Tag completion, the most requested feature, is in there. Also, a major performance bug when dealing with large sets of bookmarks is fixed.

Changes

  • Tag completion when saving bookmarks (this is the most requested feature following the initial release).
  • Big performance gain creating the del.icio.us menu. This was causing Safari to load slowly and a spinning beach ball when posting new bookmarks. Everything should be lightning fast now. On my machine, the menu creation routine went from a 2.3 second operation to a 0.02 second operation. I repeat – DeliciousSafari should have NO noticeable impact on Safari performance.
  • Bookmarks are now sorted by name within each tag.
  • Expanded compatibility for auto generated bookmark titles that contain HTML character entities. This means math symbols, greek letters, and other characters will show up as expected, rather than as some weird HTML code like รน.

Any chance of being able to get a bookmarking button or bookmarklet (maybe override the Safari button)? A 4-key hotkey combination is a bit awkward.

    Great update.

I agree, it is awkward. I like your idea of a new toolbar button (so people can still use regular bookmarks if they want).

A toolbar button would make this perfect, just like with the firefox del.icio.us bookmarks bar, if you manage to integrate this it might also be an idea to have a post to delicious button for the toolbar so they sit side by side.

  4. **** It doesn’t save my tags! ****
I just noticed!! Too bad since I’ve been adding most of them with the bookmarklet because of the same reason mentioned above.

Ouch! Thanks for reporting this issue, Levi. I just posted version 1.4 to resolve this issue.
